Notes

  • This is currently an active state tower
  • In 1925, 29 acres are purchased for the purposes of erecting a tower
  • That same year, a 68 FT tower with stairs is purchased from Parker Brothers Iron Co. for $2,000 and erected on the site
  • The towns of Douglas, Millbury, Northbridge, Suton, Oxford, and Webster contributes $200 each toward the tower costs
  • In 1938, this tower is destroyed in the great hurricane of 1938
  • In October of 1938, a temporary wooden tower is built
  • In 1939, a new 68 FT steel tower is built
  • Also in 1939, a new phone line and 2-way radios are installed
  • In 1966, a chain link fence is installed
  • In 1967, a new cab is built
