Forest Fire Lookout Association Chapters
The Forest Fire Lookout Association is organized into a hierarchical structure starting with Regions, Chapters, Local Chapters, and Area Representatives.
Regions
Regions are the larger areas where chapters are distributed. Regions are largely carved up by geography. FFLA regions are East, Northwest, Southwest, and South.
Chapters (Divisions)
Chapters are those which have been established with a Director who is a voting member of the FFLA Board of Directors and are referenced in the bylaws. Chapters are distributed within Regions.
Local Chapters
Local chapters (also referred to as “sub-chapters”, or in the case of parent using the term “division”, may use the name “chapter”) are the groups formed for local purposes, either attached to an individual tower, or a smaller area within a chapter. Establishment of local chapters is subject to the approval of the Chapter Director. The leaders of these groups (informal positions) must be FFLA members, but are NOT voting members of the Board.
Forest Fire Lookout Association Officers and Board of Directors
The Forest Fire Lookout Association is governed by an all-volunteer Board of Directors, comprised of eight elected officers and all Chapter directors. These volunteers devote a great deal of their time to these roles and the mission of the Forest Fire Lookout Association.
